In 2023, after a fulfilling career in commercial real estate, I created cubearts.ca. At that time, I headed back to school to pursue a fascination and curiosity in metalwork. First George Brown College to learn the basics of welding and hone my skills in MIG, TIG and Stick welding. After that, I enrolled in a professional program at the Institute of Technical Trades to pursue certification in welding and further enhance my skills.

Inspred by architecture, urban form and geometry, I have currently created over 50 pieces of original tabletop and wall art pieces reflecting the structure, geometry, and rhythm of the built environment. Baked into all of this, is a real intention of making my pieces fun, cheeky and be able to surprise.

I certainly get a kick out of creating this stuff. I start off with digging into my mental archive of neat architecture, geometric patterns and in general the world around. Sometimes a piece may start off with a specific scheme and then end up as a totally different finished product.

Since the medium is sheet steel, attention to form, materials, interplay, contrast, patterns and structure is a significant part of the design process.

Through sketching, design development, and hands-on fabrication in the studio, the resulting works blend sculptural form with architectural influence, creating pieces that feel "refined industrial" with an empahsis on visual surpise. Some of the pieces move, adding to the surprise of exploring this art.

The sculptures are intended to bring a sense of strength, precision, and visual calm to contemporary interiors — whether displayed as a focal point on a tabletop or integrated into a larger wall composition.
